What is Dramatherapy?
Dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creativity, imagination and the body to support emotional healing and personal growth. It can offer a safe contained space where people can explore their experiences through story, movement, role, image, and play, especially when words feel limited or overwhelming.
At its core, Dramatherapy is about expression and connection. It gives shape to feelings, memories and patterns that may be hard to access through conversation alone. Through creative methods, clients can step into different roles, experiment with new perspectives, and gently work through the parts of their story that need attention or care.
Dramatherapists are clinically trained and registered with the HCPC. We draw on psychological theory, attachment work, trauma-informed practice and creative processes to support people of all ages. Sessions can be 1:1 or in groups.
You do not need any experience in drama acting or performance as Dramatherapy is not drama. The work is not about performing, it’s about meeting yourself with curiosity, safety and creativity. You are in control of what you explore, and the process always moves at your pace.
